Transforming Staircase

The final challenge of the mechanical engineering department at California State University of Sacramento, is the ME190 and ME191 course series, titled Senior Project. During the Senior Project course we are tasked to come up with a project - that solves a technical problem - then design and finally build that project. Our group chose to build a Transforming Staircase that operates as a normal staircase as well as a platform lift that are both compliant with relevant codes (ASME and ADA).
